Library Exhibit – Garages – October 2018

The automobile changed the way Americans got around, and livery stables, where horses were kept for hire, changed to serve the new method of transportation. In Jamestown, the first such enterprise was Harry’s Garage and Livery Stable on Narragansett Avenue, which in 1911 became Jamestown Garage.
