The Jamestown Historical Society provides many benefits and opportunities to members: first access to JHS outings, exclusive member-only social events, tours, openings, and the JHS newsletter.
The JHS was initially founded in 1912 to preserve the Jamestown windmill. Since then we’ve added other preservation efforts – the 1786 Conanicut Friends Meetinghouse, the 1776 Conanicut Battery, the 1875 primary school that serves as our museum, and a constantly growing collection of over 40,000 photographs, archives, and artifacts that tell the history of Conanicut, Dutch, and Gould Islands. Through the generous support of our donors and members, JHS keeps the story of Jamestown alive by creating exhibitions, preserving historic structures, and presenting programs and events that educate and inspire.

All donation monies go to supporting our collections, our properties, and the material cost of our programs. All staff are volunteers. Donations will be appreciated.
