The Jamestown Historical Society monitors eBay and other auction websites for objects pertaining to Jamestown.  Over the last six years, we have purchased several archives and objects to add to the JHS collection. 

The new exhibit in the JHS display case shows some of the material found on eBay.

Letters are always of interest and these excerpts are from letters written by Florean to her mother, Mrs. Benj. Monaco, while Florean was at Camp Seaside in August 1929.

…….Has a rest period which is badly needed after hiking 5 miles to Jamestown & 5 miles back last night and 5 miles the night before and am going to hike 4 more to west shore to eat supper tonight……

……Miss Magee [swimming coach] says her leg muscles are fully developed but not the right way for swimming so she’s going to teach me, and to pass Junior Life Saving I have to swim to Prudence Island. I’m learning lots of new strokes. I’m the strongest girl in camp and how!
