The latest Members Only Tour of Prescott Farm on May 15, 2019 was Fantastic. Prescott Farm is a 40 acre 18th century farm preserved by The Newport Restoration Foundation established by Doris Duke. British General Richard Prescott was occupying the farm in July 1777, when he was kidnapped from it by colonists in order that he be exchanged for U.S. General Charles Lee.
During our visit we had our own docent and visited the operational 1812 windmill on the property and two colonial gardens maintained by the URI Master Gardeners. There was a demonstration of making jonnycakes and a tasting! They were delicious! It is a beautiful place.
