From the Collection – Films From Our Online Collection

Last fall we launched a new landing page for our Online Collection that highlighted certain categories for searching. One of the new categories we wanted to create was the subject of Film. Efforts to create digital versions of VHS, DVD and early films for preservation opened up the opportunity to be able to view them on our website.

We have been fortunate to have received film footage from the home movies of Harold Sherman which at the moment are the bulk of what can be viewed online now. Mr. Sherman was a crew member of the Jamestown Ferries and his film clips, such as the one above, give us short glimpses of Jamestown life in a more uncomplicated time.
