On September 20th 1914 the steam ferry Conanicut was nearly destroyed by fire at the East Ferry Wharf. NW winds increased the ferocity of the fire. The Training Station assisted with its fireboat and truck.
The Jamestown Historical Society March 2025 exhibit “MODELS” at the Town Hall includes three dimensional models and plaques often collected as memorabilia.

Kit Wright (1899-1988) of Philadelphia and Jamestown was a painter, wrote and taught art. One of the prized possessions of the Jamestown Historical Society collection is her painting,” Red, White & Blue”.
The summer 2025 exhibition in the Jamestown Museum tells the stories of Jamestown organizations and how they affected the growth and development of our island community.
Album Conanicut owned by Dr Lawrence Turnbull includes about forty photographs of Jamestown Rhode Island taken by Mr W.H. Glider circa 1890.
The Enterprise Transportation Company provided ferry service between Jamestown, Rhode Island and New York for 18 months beginning in 1906.
