25th Anniversary of the Jamestown-Verrazzano Bridge On Saturday, October 17, 1992, about 40,000 people ran, walked, or strolled across the newly opened 7,350-foot-long Jamestown-Verrazzano Bridge.

A Members Only Outing was organized by Jim Buttrick and Rosemary Enright. The group received a great tour by Pam Carr, a direct decsendant of Nicholas Carr, the builder of the Carr Homestead on Carr Lane in Jamestown.

A great time was had by all at the Pre Party for this year’s house tour.

The new exhibit in the library celebrates the 150th Anniversary of Central Baptist Church. It includes photos and drawings as well as many other interesting items from the church.

The JHS Annual Meeting was held at the Jamestown Philomenian Library, Monday August 7th. At the well attended meeting, the President, Mary Heath, recapped the successful year and thanked all the hard workers especially the outgoing board members.

The JHS held a series of trolley tours to historic spots on Conanicut Island on Saturday, July 22th led by and organized by Jane Bentley.

The new exhibit in the library celebrates the 40th Fools’ Rules Regatta. Boats that race in the regatta in the Jamestown harbor must be assembled that day on the beach out of non-marine materials.
