On April 14, Rhode Island Historic Cemetery Restoration & Awareness Day, a dozen JHS volunteers met at the Josiah Arnold burial ground to clean up, straighten, and reset some of the 300-year-old tombstones.

The Members Only Tour of The Redwood Library was wonderful. We learned so much about the history of the library and Athaeneum.

The new exhibit in the JHS display case in the Jamestown Philomenian Library features Programs for events as diverse as the celebration of the opening of the Jamestown Bridge and the 60th anniversary concert by the Jamestown Community Chorus.

Over 15 percent of Colonial Jamestowners were Black slaves. Through the hard economic times after the American Revolution, few Blacks remained.

The January Jamestown Historical Society exhibit in the Jamestown Philomenian Library celebrates the more that 200 additions to the JHS collections received from 93 different individuals and groups between December 2016 and December 2017.

The Members Only Tour of Touro Synagogue was wonderful. We learned so much about Touro’s role in religious freedom.
