The Members Only Tour of the exhibit John James Audubon: Obsession Untamed, at Rosecliff on April 4, 2019 was exceptional.

Rhode Island’s Revolutionary War history may not share the luster of nearby Massachusetts’, but the smallest colony was the site of one of the largest battles of the war.

Manuel Dutra Lewis (1873-1968) and his wife Clara Silveira Furtado (1886-1923) were born in Fayal, the Azores. They met in Jamestown and were married here in 1906.

The Vault Volunteers took a trip to the Redwood Library to see the Claggett Clocks one of which is the Carr Clock which is know for having been “stolen” and retrieved by a family member.

JHS took a winter’s members-only outing to the Seabee Museum and Memorial. We were given a very informative tour by curator Jack Springle.

The Captain Thomas Paine house, Cajacet. the exhibit just mounted by the JHS in the Jamestown Philomenian Library, tells the story of Captain Thomas Paine.

The new exhibit the JHS case in the Jamestown Philomenian Library features some of the recent additions to the society’s growing collection of artifacts that reflect the history of our island.
