The next outing for members of the Historical Society will be to Boyd’s Mill, the only eight-vaned windmill built in New  England.  The event will be the Middletown Historical Society’s Founders’ Day, Saturday, August 20 at 11:00 am at Paradise Park in MIddletown, of which Boyd’s Mill is the centerpiece.

Andy Shrake, who is the millwright of the Jamestown Windmill, is also responsible for the ongoing maintenance of Boyd’s Mill and will be at the event.  He will explain the similarities and differences between the two mills.  This should be of particular interest to docents of the Jamestown Windmill, but all JHS members are encouraged to attend.

We will meet at the mill in Paradise Park at 11:00am, when Founders’ Day opens.  We will offer a carpool from the Jamestown Museum, but those carpooling will be at the mercy of their drivers as to how  much time they will spend at Founders’ Day.  If you are a member of the Jamestown Historical Society and wish to attend, please email Jim Buttrick at yankeereal@aol.com with the following information:

whether you will be driving yourself;

whether you wish to carpool; and if carpooling, whether you are able to drive if needed.
