Jamestown Cookbooks
August Town Hall Exhibit 2025
Each month seldom seen objects from the JHS Collection are put on display in the foyer of the Town Hall. This month’s exhibit includes cookbooks from Jamestown families and organizations.
Recipes have been collected and passed down for centuries.
One group of cookbooks in the JHS collection are personal, hand-written collections of family recipes to be passed to the next generation.
Other cookbooks were created to benefit specific Jamestown organizations. The Episcopalian, Baptist, and Roman Catholic churches have each raised funds selling cookbooks of recipes collected from their congregations. The historical society printed copies of historic recipes, and the humane society issued a vegetarian cookbook.
The August exhibit in Town Hall shows a variety of cookbooks from the 19th to the 21st centuries.
