Jamestown's Film History and the Palace Theatre
April Town Hall Exhibit 2025
The April 2025 exhibit features Jamestown’s film history and the Palace Theatre (later the Bomes Theater).
Display regarding Jamestown’s film history and the Palace Theatre (later the Bomes Theater) constructed in June 1921. In the 1950s, the Bomes Theater closed for a period of time but reopened for summer showings in 1966. The theater ultimately shut its doors in 1977 and was turned into a commercial space in the 1980s. Additionally, Jamestown was a popular filming location, offering backdrops to films such as “Crash Dive” (1943), “Me, Myself, and Irene” (2000), and “Moonrise Kingdom” (2012).
