The Jamestown Historical Society has received a $1,000 legislative grant sponsored by Jamestown’s General Assembly Representative, Deb Ruggiero.

The grant will be used to fund our summer 2015 exhibit in the Jamestown Museum, “Defending our Shores:  Military Installations in Jamestown.”  The exhibit portrays Jamestown’s critical importance as the guardian of the entrance to Narragansett Bay.  It includes photos and artifacts from our own collection as well as artifacts relating to Jamestown’s forts and military units loaned to us by individuals interested in our military history.

The exhibit will be accompanied by a brochure explaining Jamestown’s important role in defending Rhode Island’s shores.
