DESCRIPTION:The Jamestown Historical Society Annual Meeting is Thursday, August 13, in the meeting room at the Jamestown Philomenian Library. Our speaker this year is John Kennedy, Director of Museum Education and Community Outreach, at the Naval War College ( https://www.usnwc.edu/About/NWC-Museum.aspx ), who will talk about “The Navy in Narragansett Bay.”\nJohn Kennedy is a retired Navy Commander, who during his 20-year career served in a variety of anti-submarine warfare billets in air patrol squadrons. He studied at the Norwegian Defense College before being assigned as a research analyst at the Center for Naval Warfare Studies at the Naval War College. After retiring from the Navy in 1994, Kennedy spent 13 years as a teacher and administrator at the secondary school level. He rejoined the Naval War College as Director of Museum Education and Community Outreach in 2008.\nThe business meeting and election of officers begins at 7 pm. John Kennedy’s presentation on will follow at 7:30 pm.\n
