The three houses on this year’s tour illustrate three different approaches to making old houses livable in the 21st century.
It will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 – 10am to 2pm.
The homes are
- Preserve. The almost unchanged Greene farmhouse at 55 Longfellow Road was one of the few buildings left standing in Jamestown after the British occupation of 1776-1778.
- Renew. The house at 23 Hawthorne Road originally had an unassuming exterior without the architectural decorations of its Shoreby Hill neighbors. Porches and balconies now soften its façade.
- Rebuild. The tiny 1920s house at 16 Plymouth Road has been rebuilt into a net-zero energy home. The transformation was documented on “This Old House” in 2017-2018.
