The next outing of the Society will be to tour Fort Adams on Wednesday, July 27.
We will meet at the Fort at 9:30 am and be given a tour by Rob McCormack, Director of Visitor Experience, Jamestown resident and lifelong student of the forts in Narragansett Bay.
Those interested in carpooling to the Fort will meet at the Museum at 9:00 am. Starting at this hour, we will be there before the fort opens to the public.
The cost of the tour is $6 per person, half the usual adult price, to be paid at the Fort.
The fort is a fascinating part of Newport history on many levels. A highlight is going into the listening tunnels under the fortifications, built to detect if the enemy was digging under them.
If you would like to join us, please email Jim Buttrick at firstname.lastname@example.org and let him know:
if you wish to come but drive yourself,
if you wish to come and join the carpool from the Museum or
if you wish to come and are available to drive.
